Three real projects for podcasts and zines
I will post your login details to an Adobe Connect Meeting as a reminder on the Monday before . I hope to have Stuart Macadam sitting alongside me in the video link.
Here are the 3 projects. In each one, we have to decide the best way to showcase/package/market the content, as well as dialogue around we can edit/improve the content. The links are to each person's profile page. If you want to make some comments or have questions before we meet online, reply to this forum post.
- Dorothy Willis | Kids Packs - content shows as zip folder
- David Hill | Spring Start Whisperers - content shows as large Word file - too big for akiwiconnexion upload
- Stuart Manins | Ikigai - book review -= content shows as a text file
I will supply all the stats about zines made from early startups (Rosalie, Mike Stachurski, etc) when I send the login details

Participants: Stuart Manins, Margaret Smith, Max & Julie Thomson, Dorothy Willis and David Bell.
David Hill | Spring Star Whisperers
As usual a ton of really worthwhile content. The Word doc format is, of course, just one click away formatting as a PDF.
We can't display a Word doc as such in kiwiconnexion. The best alternative for mobile is to create a new page with a single column layout and a single html text block, with formatting and images applied.
But the length of the content would make it a very, very long scroll to get through. So the general feeling was: it's better promoted/marketed as a PDF for tablet or desktop. I will edit David's profile page to display the PDF and we will promote the profile page in our various social media.
Unfortunately we can't collect the number of downloads for privacy reasons.
Dorothy Willis | Kids Pack Series
This generated a really useful discussion about where and how Kids Packs get used. Dorothy and Earnest have created an a set of Sunday School materials for their rural community out of Riverton, and it sits as an under-utilized resource in kiwiconnexion.
There are two problems around promoting the content. First it's hard to promote a zipped file as such, so we need to get some images out of the packs and promote those. Second, there are 26 packs in total, so we need to create a way of promoting the collection.
Over the next week or so I will use some of Dorothy's images (great illustrations by the way!) to redo that section on her profile page. Then as in David's Spring Star Whisperers, promote the profile page to encourage downloads from it
Cf our experience of Stuart Macadam's Three Minutes Of Your Time on his profile page (232 organic views) and the Freebies landing page for Three Minutes (1489 page views via FB and Instagram promotion)
Extra promotion for Kids Packs. We will actively promote the use of the resource in Trinity-at-Waiake, and suggest it via email to other parishes.
Stuart Manins | Book Review of Ikigai
We are currently working on this. We hope to edit it down to about 500 words and publish in Spark, and promote via FB and Stuart's profile page. Should be completed in a few days.
